Heroic Italian launched in 1999 in Santa Monica California by Jefferey Merrihue but is currently owned and operated by David Bullitt with 2 Northern California locations:

Brother's Jeffrey and David grew up and lived in and around Boston's Italian North End and The (Italian) North Beach of San Francisco. The Northeast and Northern California are the birthplace of numerous beloved dishes like Veal Parmesan, Spaghetti and Meatballs, Cioppino and the beloved Italian Hero sandwich which was invented in 1905 in Portland, Maine by Giovanni Amato. That Hero was the inspiration for Heroic Italian and its famous OMG! Sandwich.

Meats, cheeses and pastas are imported from Italy while produce is sourced from local distributors and farmers markets. Sauces and spreads are made in house with most ingredients being organic…and our epic bread is baked fresh by Montescacro Pinsaria in San Francisco.

Heroic has received accolades from Eater, Gayot Guide, Thrillist and the LA Times.
